Konkani Film Festival Kuwait – 2010 (KFFK-2010)
Kala Mogui Kuwait (KMK), is one of prominent art & cultural organization registered with Embassy of India, championing the art, cultural and linguistic issues for Konkani speaking communities in the State of Kuwait. KMK takes great pleasure in announcing the first Konkani Film Festival Kuwait – 2010 (KFFK-2010) which will be held in the State of Kuwait in the last quarter of this year 2010.
Addressing a press conference at the conference hall of Tiatr Academy Goa were prominent film producer of D’Costa Films Mr. Arnold D’Costa, prominent film director Mr. Mahesh Rane and KMK president Mr. Domingos Araujo from the State of Kuwait. Mr. D’Costa & Mr. Rane the president and the vice president respectively of THE GOA FILM LOVERS CLUB providing full assistance to KMK in organizing the first KONKANI FILM FESTIVAL KUWAIT – 2020 (KFFK-2010)
KFFK-2010 is purely to promote the cultural exchanges, Goa’s rich heritage and Konkani language among Konkani loving people and to develop further co-operation among Konkani film makers of the world. The festival is being organized to promote Indian culture in general and Goan culture in particular, in Kuwait. Konkani is one of the major Indian languages and there is a sizeable Konkani speaking population in Kuwait. The festival will showcase some of the finest Konkani films, and well known Konkani film personalities are expected to attend the festival.
The guide lines and entry form of the festival issued to the film makers in March 2010, thus KMK received as many as 18 entries both in celluloid and in video formant. KMK’s special appointed selection committee selected eight (8) films in competition category and six (6) films for non-competition category. The selected films will be screened for the first KFFK-2010 in the State of Kuwait subject to the approval of Ministry of Information.
The festival is scheduled for over six days, which will showcase some of the finest Konkani films, to the likes of Konkani loving people and coming from the Konkani world. KFFK-2010 is a total entertainment for all, a tentative program includes games & different competition for children, a mini film making workshop for young aspirant film makers in the State of Kuwait, cultural program and above all the screening of films.
The entry free film festival is also an admission free; KMK will not charge admission fee nor the entry fee to participate in the first KFFK-2010. The preliminary budget for the festival is also released to the tune of Kuwaiti Dinars Fifty to Sixty Thousand which includes formatting of films, Ministry approval, visas, air tickets, food and accommodation for approximately forty film personalities and dignitaries, cultural group, overseas jury, official guest, VIP’s, print publicity, digital publicity, event management, security and house keeping. The highlight of the festival is awards; the main prizes are as follows: best film, jury award, best director, best actor and best actress. The other prizes are best playback singer male, best playback singer female, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best script, best screenplay, best music, best sound, best cinematography and best editing. Special prize for an outstanding contribution for Konkani films and audience choice award for best film will also be awarded.
KMK shortly will announce a pre festival contest to design the festival emblem, to compose and to write the music of theme song and to design the mementos and festival trophies. All the discipline will reward handsomely including a trip to Kuwait to attend the first KFFK-2010 in the State of Kuwait.
Further to that, KMK invite Konkani speaking people and lovers of Konkani films to join in their endeavor and for this they solicit kind assistance to host such a magnitude event by means of sponsorship which will add silver lining to the glittering festival. KMK sincerely look forward festival presenter, main sponsor, media partner and other categories of sponsorship.
Since the festival is admission free KMK is expecting around 5000 thousand local audience over a period of six days, and a great opportunity to publicize Goa as a tourist & cultural destination, a film destination and to promote Konkani literature, art & culture amongst Goans & others in the State of Kuwait.
